Deuteronomy 29:1-29<\/p>\n

God’s Covenant with the children of Israel\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“The secret things belong to the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0our God,\u00a0but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law”\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
I thought it would be interesting\u00a0to look into the basic elements of a contract and then follow through the verses from this chapter.\u00a0 Not necessarily\u00a0in in the numbered verses, but we and find them included in this writing.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
In a contract today, you will find an opening statement, a legal purpose, mutual\u00a0acceptance, consideration, voluntary acceptance (or at will), and competent\u00a0parties\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0v1:\u00a0<\/span>These are the terms of the covenant the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel . . . opening statement\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
v9:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Carefully follow\u00a0the terms of this covenant,\u00a0so that you may prosper in everything you do. . . purpose\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
v12:\u00a0You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0your God, a covenant the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0is making with you this day. . . acceptance\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
v13:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>to confirm you this day as his people,\u00a0that he may be your God\u00a0as he promised you. . . consideration\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
v2:\u00a0<\/span>Moses summoned all the children of Israel and spoke to them . . . voluntary acceptance or at will\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
v<\/span>16:\u00a0<\/b><\/span>You yourselves know . . competent parties\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Beginning<\/span>\u00a0with verse 16 it is all detailed so they will know and understand\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0non compos mentis\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
All throughout\u00a0the book of Deuteronomy\u00a0we are reminded of God’s “contract” with his people and the difficulty in keeping His terms\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Thanks be to God that today, Jesus stepped in on our behalf and completed or fulfilled for us\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
For God so loved (opening statement) us (competent parties) the he gave his one and only son (purpose) that whoever believes (voluntary acceptance) in him shall not perish (consideration) but have eternal life\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
