“Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”<\/span><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Paul was on a mission,\u00a0 Set out to stop this Jesus and his followers.\u00a0 With papers in hand, he was to arrest anyone preaching this gospel and return them to Jerusalem.\u00a0 But before he was\u00a0 to enter Damascus, he was struck down by the blinding light of God\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
What an amazing conversion. The biggest threat to Christ and His followers\u00a0was now proclaiming the Gospel throughout Judea.\u00a0He went on to write most of the letters of the new testament and was responsible for the beginnings of the church\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Some of us also have had our “Damascus road experience.\u00a0 We had a life that was opposing\u00a0to Christ.\u00a0 Maybe not as\u00a0out spoken as Paul, or struck down by a beam of light,\u00a0 but if we were “not for Him, we were against Him”\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Paul’s conversion was a miraculous, a complete transformation,\u00a0 even his name.\u00a0 I have heard first hand and read many testimonies from many believers that experienced an amazing conversion to Christ.\u00a0 I am thankful to hear these stories, people from various back grounds and beliefs,\u00a0 lives that have been changed by Christ\u00a0 However, just like the Children of Israel , too often we want to build an alter or monument to remember\u00a0a place or an event in our life.\u00a0Too many times, our testimony becomes a monument or “alter”\u00a0to mark the day or place that God “opened our eyes”<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
We need to be more like Paul.\u00a0 God may not be expecting as much from us as he did Paul, but as in v 28 , we should be “speaking boldly\u00a0in the Name of the Lord”\u00a0 Our testimony should become our diary or daily account of God’s light in our life and how He uses us to see the church “grow in numbers”\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0—-\u00a0<\/span>Bill Burgan<\/span><\/div>\n
