{"id":743,"date":"2019-09-12T00:05:31","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T05:05:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/glorycbcdevotion.home.blog\/?p=743"},"modified":"2024-10-14T22:06:36","modified_gmt":"2024-10-14T22:06:36","slug":"2019-9-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/devotion-2019_2021\/2019-9-12\/","title":{"rendered":"2019-9-12"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"moz-text-html\" lang=\"x-unicode\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">Acts 3:1-26<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">&#8220;Silver and Gold I do not have&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 As Peter and John were on there way to pray (most likely every day)\u00a0 a beggar was waiting near the temple gates.\u00a0 He had been brought there as was often the case to ask for hand outs.\u00a0 On this particular\u00a0day, his life was about to change.\u00a0 Peter boldly spoke to the man, &#8220;look at me, I have no money to give you,\u00a0 now\u00a0in the name of Jesus get up and walk.&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0What did Peter want the man to do?\u00a0 Look at him.\u00a0 Not this busy crowd around here, not to the people that brought you here or the crowd entering the temple, but look at me and listen.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 Never have we seen such a robust economy.\u00a0 Gold and silver on the rise, the stock market setting new highs and jobs aplenty.\u00a0 How easy it would be for us a followers of Christ to loose focus and get caught up in this carnival of chance,\u00a0 God would have us to &#8220;look&#8221; on Him.\u00a0 \u00a0Fix our eyes on Jesus.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Next Peter said he had no money, no offerings for the man.\u00a0 I wonder if the man turned away, maybe lowered his head in disappointment.\u00a0 Jesus said to take up your cross and follow me if it&#8217;s convenient?\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 Pick up your cross and all your earthly possessions and follow me?<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Finally Peter says\u00a0 &#8220;in the name of Jesus&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0Not in any other name,\u00a0 not in the name of Peter, nor the church, country or the president.\u00a0 But in the Name of Jesus stand and walk!<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:verdana, sans-serif;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 It is my prayer today that we can learn to look to him and not this material world and in His name stand and walk.\u00a0 Stand for Christ and let our walk be a testimony to his name.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8212;- Bill Burgan<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acts 3:1-26 \u00a0 &#8220;Silver and Gold I do not have&#038;#822 [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-743","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-devotion-2019_2021"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/743","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=743"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/743\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4613,"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/743\/revisions\/4613"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=743"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=743"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/glorycbc.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=743"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
