This is a Hebrew literature. v.2 and v.21 serve as the chapter\u2019s introduction and summary, whereas v.3 to v.20 is the content. vv. 10-12, then, is basically the core message of this chapter expressing such a theme: \u201csuffering you deserve.\u201d Unfortunately, Bildad\u2019s impassionate speech communicates a popular pagan theology: Good things only happen to good guys, and misfortune is always due for the evil.<\/p>\n
In Acts 28, on his journey to Rome for appealing to Caesar, Paul went through the tough sea and finally landed on the island Malta, where he was bitten by a viper. Being shocked, the natives discussed with each other: \u201cNo doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.\u201d (4, NKJV.
