God also promised to send a righteous king to bring spiritual renewal to His people, and the blessings of the Holy Spirit brings justice, righteousness, peace, quietness and reassurance forever.

When reading Isaiah 32:2-4 Isaiah mentioned a righteous king who would bring blessings to his people like rivers of water in a dry place; shadow of a great rock in a weary land and the heart of the rash will understanding knowledge. Someone may look forward our new administration to revive the economy, (like flowing rivers to a dry land); to bring a stop to the pandemic, (shadow of a great rock in a weary land) and to have a bipartisan support of policies and legislations (understanding of knowledge). We all know that no earthly king/president can really fulfill or even come close to fulfill the above blessings, Only Jesus Christ can fulfill all three blessings to His people.

Another blessing a righteous king can bring is to expose the truth. Man cannot fool others by his appearance anymore. If a man is foolish, he will be exposed as foolish (v5). Contrary, the noble make noble plan and by noble deeds they stand. No longer people would say bad thing good and good thing bad. ‘Righteousness and wickedness would each be seen for what they were and regarded accordingly’. (Enduring Word commentary)

I am looking forward receiving our righteous king, Jesus Christ. In the meantime, I pray that Christians including myself can have the courage to speak and defend the truth; longing for God like rivers of water in a dry place; provide comfort to our families and friends (like shady of a great rock in a weary land), and to study God’s word seriously (like the heart of the rash who understand knowledge).

‘Till the Spirit is poured on us from on high’ (v15)…’My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest. Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely, how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream and letting our cattle and donkeys range free’ (v18-20). A principle we can draw from these verses is when Holy Spirit pours upon us, we can rise above circumstances. If others feel the pain of the hail and a completed leveled city, we should not be shaken as we are blessed by the poured-out Holy Spirit. All we need is to clear our clutters/earthly distractions and focus on building a loving relationship with our Almighty God. — Alan Yam

[6

post-2529","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-devotion-2019_2021
["GET
