Prophet Isaiah says (v22), put no more trust in man! In Isaiah’s time, we see desperate kings turning to pagan god and foreign power for help and ending up with humiliation and destructions.

Reflection on Chapter 2:

(John 8:12) When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Lord, let us be in your light always, let us remain in Jesus and the hope and love he’s given. Lord, may you be exalted and your kingdom come!

Chapter 3: Lack of Faithfulness and Righteousness (3:1 to 3:7) Lord’s Judgment on his people

The Lord will remove every kind of security from them: leaders and resources are gone; social justice too. We learn some examples to fulfill Isaiah 3:4 after his time: young Manasseh and Jehoiachin, and indecisive Zedekiah. (3:8 to 3:11) Reasons for the Lord’s Judgment

Their words and deeds are against God
They are proud of sinning
They reap what they sow (3:12 to 3:15) Lord’s case of the leaders
They mislead people
They take advantage of the poor, cumulate wealth for themselves (3:17 to 3:26) Lord’s Judgment on the women of Judah
Their obsession on appearance and image
Their finery will be taken away
Their men will fall They will be sick, exploited, and abandoned…

However, there’s always hope: Lord’s blessing (3:10)
Righteous will be well and enjoy the fruit of their deeds

Reflection on Chapter 3:

(1 Peter 3:4-5) Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful.

Lord, remind us of your desired fruit and beauty – a gentle and quite spirit, which is more important than outward beauty and accessories. Help me to be the women you want me to be!
